A Multilingual Creative
I am an aspiring assistant editor and writer–director with a working-class background, 10+ years of secondary teaching experience and 3+ years of hospitality experience, which means I am an effective communicator, organised, and accustomed to long shifts and to working with people from various walks of life. I am also a team player, adaptable, a problem-solver, creative and overall approachable and fun to work with.
During my HND TV (Nescol, Aberdeen) and BA Filmmaking (UWS, Ayr), I worked on various student projects, including my own, as a writer, director, composer, and editor. I also made a few music videos for local bands. My practice is centred on character-driven storytelling, with an interest in contemporary social themes and an element of absurd and deadpan humour.
To get an idea of what I like, here's a list of a few films and TV programmes I enjoy watching:
Films: Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World (Radu Jude), Flow (Gints Zilbalodis), Holiday (George Cukor), The Philadelphia Story (George Cukor), Mad Max: Fury Road (George Miller), A Different Man (Aaron Schimberg).
TV: Doctor Who, Rooster, Twin Peaks, The X-Files, Shetland, Department Q, The Traitors, The Celebrity Traitors, Location Location Location, House of Games.
I am actively seeking entry-level roles in film and television, especially as an edit assistant, where I can contribute meaningfully within a collaborative production environment.
